The start of September has positive news pouring in for sportsmen in the U.S. From the U.S. House of Representatives to impressive economic reports, stay updated on announcements to increase hunting opportunities, expand funds to reach recruitment efforts and see the impressing numbers sportsmen and women contribute to the national economy.
On Sept. 7, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke announced plans to open more than 251,000 acres to new or expanded hunting and fishing opportunities at 30 national wildlife refuges across the country. Click here to read the full release with the breakdown by state.
On Sept. 12, the Modernizing the Pittman-Robertson Fund for Tomorrow’s Needs Act of 2017, or H.R. 2591, passed on a voice vote in the House. This bill allows the funds from hunters’ dollars to be utilized in recruitment of hunters and recreational shooters without raising any taxes or adding fees.
This month, new reports reveal the true effect sportsmen and women have on the economy. Over 53 million Americans spent an outstanding total of $93 billion on expenses such as gear, licenses, travel, and gas.
