Last Saturday found 145 excited youngsters and their parents arriving by bus to the beautiful Greystone Castle in Mingus, Texas to participate in the annual DSC & DEF Fall Safety Extravaganza.
Waiting for them was an army of dedicated DSC and DEF volunteers, men and women who bring their time, passion, and experience to this one of a kind event.
For many youngsters, this was their first experience and opportunity to participate in the shooting sports; including rifle, pistol, muzzleloader, archery, and shotgun events.
Each station featured volunteer safety instructors who stressed gun safety and hunting ethics, all the while keeping an eye on a primary goal of the Safety Event… Making sure both the kids and their parents enjoyed the day and had FUN!
Hunters are not born… the are introduced.
