CONNECTICUT – On Saturday, March 12, 2016, DSC Northeast, Inc. – Dallas Safari Club’s (DSC) inaugural Chapter outside of Texas – held its annual Call2Adventure! fundraiser at the Mashantucket Pequot Museum at Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Eastern Connecticut. Already a regional powerhouse in wildlife conservation, outdoors education and hunter advocacy, DSC Northeast has over 300 members across a nine state area in the Northeastern US. Members from all DSC Northeast chapter states – Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont – as well as DSC members from other states as distant as Alaska, Texas and Utah were in attendance at the event. International attendees included Canada, South Africa and more! The crowd of approximately 300 represented a diverse audience of outdoor enthusiasts ranging from those primarily interested in local and regional pursuits to many who travel overseas on a regular basis.
During the event Kim Rappleye, DSC Chapter Development Coordinator, was on-hand to answer questions about how conservation and policy fit into the mission of the organization and also discuss the goals of DSC in its development of a Chapter system. During the Welcome Ceremony Mr. Rappleye presented a plaque to the Board of DSC Northeast commemorating the new Chapter’s formation, and praising the organization’s vision and leadership as an inspiration for others to follow.
The 2016 fundraising event featured nearly 40 exhibitor booths showcasing leading local, national and international sporting lifestyle companies, informational seminars, a plated gourmet wild game dinner, silent auction, several drawings, and a world-class live auction. Trips offered afforded opportunities for patrons to travel to five different continents. In total that night, DSC Northeast raised an estimated $100,000 to directly support its mission statement.
