After adapting to a virtual fundraiser in early 2021, DSC is proud to report a very successful in-person Convention in Dallas January 6-9, 2022.
The return to Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and Omni Hotel Dallas saw an extraordinary gathering of over 23,000 hunters and conservationists that were eager to meet with like-minded individuals and plan adventures around the world. After a difficult couple years for the hunting and conservation community, this strong attendance brought many exhibitors record numbers of hunts booked and products sold for a promising start in 2022.
“We were so excited to bring the hunting community together once again,” said DSC and DSC Foundation CEO Corey Mason. “But we were blown away by the enthusiasm of attendees to support our exhibitor partners by purchasing hunts and all types of outdoor gear in an exceptional way.”
Beyond the Convention floor, DSC’s mission of conservation, education and advocacy will advance in large part thanks to the success of the nightly auctions, with strong support from in-person and online bidders across the world. DSC members and attendees showed their dedication through their dollars by bidding on everything from African safaris and Canadian bear hunts to stunning tanzanite jewelry and wildlife art. The banquets also honored impressive award winners and paid tribute to one of the tenets of DSC’s mission each night.
This Convention was an exciting one for DSC with the first live presentation of the Conservation Trailblazer Award, a new distinction for the exhibitor with the Best Conservation Display, new Membership opportunities, an updated app and mission-themed banquet nights.
“Thank you to each and every person who walked the show floor, exhibited in a booth, volunteered your time, donated to our auctions, and bid in person or online. The overwhelming success of this Convention could not have been possible without you,” said DSC President Amy Callender McBee.
A special thank you to our 2022 corporate sponsors for their generosity and support of our mission: Hornady Manufacturing Company, Sports Afield, Bass Pro Shops/Cabela’s, Boyt Harness Company, Global Rescue, Kryptek Outdoor Group, MidwayUSA, Ripcord Rescue Travel Insurance, Trijicon, Inc., WildLife Partners LLC, Boyt Harness, Scheels, Alford Media, Lone Star Outdoor News, Capital Farm Credit, G2 Ranch, Leica Sport Optics, Michel Mantheakis Safaris Ltd., Ox Ranch, RAD Rides, Silencer Central, United Country Real Estate, Wild Hunting Turkey, and all the rest of our Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Supporter sponsors.
In 2021, DSC and DSC Foundation made over 50 grants through the Hunters CARE initiative to support anti-poaching efforts across southern, central and eastern Africa during the COVID pandemic, along with various other mission-focused grants around the world. Thanks to the outpouring support of the hunting community at this year’s Convention, DSC looks forward to using the funds to further conservation, education and advocacy efforts even more in 2022.
Please be sure to mark your calendar for the 2023 Convention scheduled January 5-8, 2023, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center.
