DSC announces its newly established affiliate chapter, DSC Austin. The group joins Lubbock Sportsman’s Club and DSC Northeast through the organization’s chapter affiliate program. The program connects conservation groups without geographical ties to DSC to share in achieving the club’s vision of a society that values wildlife, engages in its conservation, and understands and supports the role of well-regulated hunting in the sustainable use of wild resources.
DSC Austin is the third chapter to join DSC’s affiliate program, and more are expected this year. Added in 2015, both Lubbock Sportsman’s Club and DSC Northeast had great successes with their fundraising banquets in March. Both events were well attended and garnered new chapter members, Life Members, and funds for chapter programs. DSC Chapter Coordinator Kim Rappleye was able to deliver to headquarters over $39,000 in funds raised by these chapters.
“This new opportunity for our local members to join together to safeguard our outdoor traditions to this scale is unlike any other,” said Paul Jones, DSC Austin chapter president. “The Austin Chapter exemplifies DSC’s momentum in conservation, education and the stewardship of our wildlife resources, and shows there is unwavering support from members distributed throughout Texas and the country. DSC is an organization of the highest repute and it is an honor to be a part of its growing chapter network.”

The Austin chapter has an initial membership of more than 50 members, which include 31 Life Members. An additional 80 DSC members live in surrounding Austin areas as well. DSC Austin offers sportsmen and women a wide variety of activities to network, socialize and put dollars into needed projects and initiatives. From dove hunts to museum tours, wild game tastings and joint events with neighbors in San Antonio, DSC Austin joins the more than 6,000 DSC members worldwide.
