DALLAS – Lubbock Sportsman’s Club Inc., a new 501(c)3 organization based in Lubbock, Texas, is the inaugural affiliate chapter of DSC, effective November 10.
The chapter has joined DSC through the organization’s new chapter program. Through this system, like-minded conservation groups without geographical ties to the club are eligible to seek local chapter status in order to be an influential part in achieving DSC’s vision of a society that values wildlife, engages in its conservation, and understands and supports the role of well-regulated hunting in the sustainable use of wild resources.
“We’re proud to welcome Lubbock Sportsman’s Club to the DSC family and excited to see such an active and passionate organization become our inaugural affiliate club,” DSC Executive Director Ben Carter said. “With the global focus of DSC’s conservation efforts, we’re excited to be joined by conservation clubs around the country who can help expand our work to protect wildlife around the world.”
The mission statement for the Lubbock Sportsman’s Club reads, “To conserve wildlife and wilderness lands; to educate youth and the general public, and to promote and protect the rights and interests of hunters in the West Texas area and worldwide.”
For the members of Lubbock Sportsman’s Club, the move to join DSC comes at an exciting time.
“We feel honored to be at the starting point in launching the new DSC affiliate program,” Lubbock Sportsman’s Club President Tim Gafford said. “DSC is a highly respected organization and for good reason. Being in Texas and attending the convention every year, we already know how well the club is run. Between the new chapter system and other efforts, joining with DSC is our best position long term.”
More information about becoming a chapter will be made available at www.biggame.org/chapter in the next few weeks.
